Get a taste of Abruzzo with this full-day tour in which you will discover one of the most beautiful areas of Abruzzo; the picturesque villages of Anversa degli Abruzzi and Scanno, included in the exclusive Club “Borghi più Belli d’Italia“, taking the scenic drive through the stunning Sagittario Gorges.
From Sulmona we will reach Anversa degli Abruzzi and the hamlet of Castrovalva, the picturesque village depicted by Dutch Artist M.C. Escher during his trips to Abruzzo. After a scenic drive through the Sagittario Gorges we will reach the village of Scanno and its famous heart-shaped lake.
The village of Scanno is known as the village of Photographers, for the close relationship of the village with 20th century photography. Many internationally renowned photographers like Henri Cartier Bresson, have been attracted by the narrow streets of the village and its inhabitants, especially by women wearing the traditional costumes and antique jewelry. Their iconic shots, which highlight the surreal atmosphere of the village and its ancient traditions, have been displayed in some of the most prestigious Museums around the world, including MOMA in New York.
